Water filling station still planned

Plans for a water filling station in Newtown town centre are set to continue after being stalled by the coronavirus situation.

The town council had planned to commission a water station in the town to allow people to refill water bottles for drinking in an attempt to cut down on plastic one-use bottles.

But the coronavirus situation meant there were concerns about the safety of people using a device.

On Monday the council's Services Committee will receive an update from its Operations Manager on "Covid friendly options."
