Several Newtown-based businesses are celebrating after being named among the finalists in this year’s Powys Business Awards, which attracted more than 150 entries across 12 categories.
Organised by Mid Wales Manufacturing Group (MWMG), the awards recognise excellence and innovation among businesses throughout the county. This year’s ceremony will take place at The Hafren in Newtown on 17 October.
Among the local finalists is RM Group UK, shortlisted for the Technology & Innovation Award, recognising cutting-edge solutions and forward-thinking approaches. Another Newtown success story, EOM Electrical Contractors Ltd, has been named a finalist in the Business-Education Partnership Award, a new category introduced this year to highlight collaboration between businesses and schools. Also shortlisted in the same category is Electric Classic Cars, also based in Newtown, known for its innovative approach to retrofitting classic cars with electric powertrains.
Ceri Stephens (pictured), Group Manager at MWMG, said: “We were delighted to receive more than 150 entries this year and it was a very difficult task shortlisting the finalists. I suspect the judges are going to have a major challenge selecting the award winners due to the quality of the finalists.”
