Finally some good news!
Powys County Council’s green bin service will remain the same price as last year - £60 – but it you will need to subscribe before the end of March or end up paying a couple of quid more.
There was anger last year when the service cost increased, reaching almost double the £35 original cost in 2019 when it was first introduced.
But last night, Powys started informing householders that it would remain at £60 this year for a 240-litre wheeled bin, but go up to £62 if booked after April 1. It will remain at £55 for a 140-litre wheeled bin or compostable sacks, but go up to £57 after April.
Collections will be every two weeks from your normal recycling collection point, starting on or after March 2, and will come to an end by December 4.
Every subscriber will receive a sticker in the post to put on each bin to indicate who has paid for collections during 2026.
Remember to attach your sticker to your bin (cover last years) as it helps the crews to see who has re-subscribed for another season.
