More than £2,300 has been raised for charities after two Farmhouse Breakfast Week events were held in Montgomeryshire last month.

The breakfasts were organised by the Montgomeryshire branch of the Farmers’ Union of Wales as part of its annual Wales wide campaign, which combines fundraising with discussion around current farming issues.

Events took place at the Dyffryn Café and Restaurant in Y Foel and the Wynnstay Inn.

Organisers say the Dyffryn event raised £1,270, split between the DPJ Foundation and the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund. A further £1,085.40 was raised at the Wynnstay Inn breakfast for the Wales Air Ambulance Charity.

Across Wales, 23 Farmhouse Breakfast Week events were held during January, raising more than £21,000 in total for charities and local causes, including over £17,000 for the Wales Air Ambulance Charity.

Montgomeryshire FUW Chair Wyn Williams said the branch was pleased with the level of support from the local rural community and businesses.

He said: “We are absolutely delighted with the total raised through this year’s Farmhouse Breakfast Week in Montgomeryshire. The generosity shown by our members, local businesses and the wider rural community has been fantastic.

“These breakfasts provide a great opportunity to bring people together, raise vital funds for charity and have important conversations about the future of farming.”
