A talk focusing on the stories behind Newtown’s war dead will be held next week as part of the Newtown and District Civic Society’s February meeting.
Historian Alan Crowe will present a talk titled “Remembering the Fallen of Newtown,” examining the lives of local servicemen and women who lost their lives in conflict and the historical records connected to them.
The presentation will look at the individuals named on memorials and in archives, and how their stories form part of the town’s heritage.
The meeting will take place on Tuesday, February 10 at 2pm at the Crescent Christian Centre on Milford Road, Newtown.
The event is open to the public. Admission for non members is £3. Refreshments will be served after the talk, and attendees will have the opportunity to speak with members of the civic society about its work and future activities.
