Emergency services were called to a serious road traffic collision on the A489 at Caersws on Monday evening which closed the road for a significant time.
At 8.04pm, crews from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service fire stations in Newtown, Llandrindod Wells and Llanfyllin were mobilised to reports of a heavy goods vehicle that had left the carriageway.
On arrival, firefighters found the lorry had collided with a tree, overturned and caught fire. Crews used four breathing apparatus sets, two hose reel jets and thermal imaging cameras to tackle the blaze and bring the fire under control.
One casualty was treated at the scene before being conveyed to hospital by road ambulance.
The incident required a multi-agency response, with Dyfed-Powys Police and the Welsh Ambulance Service also in attendance.
Fire crews remained at the scene until 10.27pm. The A489 was closed overnight to allow the damaged vehicle to be safely recovered and to ensure the road could be reopened once it was made safe.
Motorists were advised to use alternative routes while recovery work was carried out.
