Newtown Football Club have confirmed that manager Chris Hughes is to leave the club “by mutual consent”.
The shock news comes following the a run of three defeats including the latest, a 4-0 reverse at Barry Town on Saturday that left The Robins fourth in the JD Cymru Premier table.
The statement released this morning read:
"The Board of Directors at Newtown Assoociation Football Club announces that Chris Hughes is departing his role as First Team manager by mutual consent.
“After a decade with the club, this marks the end of a significant era for Newtown AFC.”
The statement went on to praise his role with the club and said “his legacy at the club will be remembered with great respect and appreciation”.
Newtown will be taking on TNS in a league match on Saturday, with no news at the moment as to who will take charge.
