Robins up to third place

Created on 12/10/2021 @ 22:40

Newtown are up to third in the JD Cymru Premier after tonight’s 2-0 win at Connah’s Quay Nomads.

The Robins went ahead after 25 minutes through central defender Shane Sutton (pictured) and saw that lead increased to 2-0 in first half injury time when Danny Holmes put the ball into his own net.

Both sides made changes in the second half but neither could add more goals to continue the Nomads slide down the table to ninth place.

Bala Town missed an opportunity to close the gap on runaway league leaders The New Saints, losing 2-1 at Park Hall to a 94th minute stooping header from Ryan Brobbel. Bala had led at half time through a Chris Venables penalty but Saints pulled level on 81 minutes with a screamer from Brobbel.
