Telford striker Aaron Williams has joined Newtown ahead of the hew 2021/22 season.

“Aaron is a player who has been on our radar for a while and I am absolutely delighted to have got the signing over the line,” manager, Chris Hughes told the club’s website.

“His goal record in recent seasons speaks for itself and he is a really good lad who has already fitted into the dressing room extremely well.

“I am looking for Aaron to make a huge contribution in the coming months ahead and hope he can hit the ground running.”

Williams has scored over 100 goals in a career that has included spells at Football League clubs such as Walsall, Peterborough United and Newport County AFC.

The one-time England C International was part of the Brackley Town side that missed out on promotion to The National League during the 2017/18 season despite scoring 33 goals in all competitions, but he finished the season winning the FA Trophy at Wembley stadium.

It was at Walsall where he cut his football teeth, coming through the ranks and gaining senior experience from loan spells with Redditch United, Romulus and AFC Telford United.

After his release by The Saddlers, Williams signed for National League North side Worcester City, but it was at his next club, Rushall Olympic, where he proved himself as a prolific goal scorer at senior level, netting 38 goals in all competitions.

A move back to The National League North with Nuneaton soon followed before further impressive form in front of goal caught the attention of League One side, Peterborough United, who captured the striker’s services.

After a spell back at Nuneaton, he returned to The Football League with a move to Newport County and then served Harrogate Town before returning to AFC Telford United in the summer of 2019.
