Rushton grabs a point for Robins

A late Nick Rushton gave Newtown a much-needed point in a storm-affected Cymru League draw at Caeernarfon last night.

A composed first-half finish from Sion Bradley was cancelled out by Rushton’s 83rd minute equaliser, meaning ta first point in three games for the Robins, ending an unwanted losing streak and allowing them to climb out of the relegation zone in the process.

The deadlock was broken by Sion Bradley who, after being found by Jamie Crowther, cut the ball onto his left foot before finding the bottom corner.

But the Robins defied the elements in the second half with a gutsy performance and were full value for the point ending Caernarfon’s winning streak

Newtown: Dave Jones, Sean McAllister (Tyrone Ofori 70’), Kieran Mills-Evans, James O’Neill, Neil Mitchell (Ryan Edwards 80’), Nick Rushton, Jamie Breese, Jordan Evans (Jake Phillips 83’), James Davies, Craig Williams (C), George Hughes
