Sports clubs benefit from funding

Over £18,000 is to be handed out to sports clubs in the area in the latest round of Sportlot Community Chest grants.

The scheme, which is administered by Powys County Council, is designed to make a difference to sport and physical activity locally.

Organisations successful in the latest round of funding bids are:

Newtown Rugby Club. £540 for coaches to attend Level 1 UKCC courses.

Newtown Tennis Club. £250 to run a tennis leaders course.

Kerry Bowling Club. £827 for junior equipment.

Hafren Foresters Archery Club, Llanidloes. £1,000 to increase participation.

Llanfair Caereinion Tennis Club. £761 for coach education courses and to set-up a junior section.

Llanidloes Gymnastics Club. £930 for coach education courses & equipment.

N-Able Sports Club (North Powys). £810 for coach education & equipment.
