Caersws back on track

Created on 19/02/2011 @ 21:39
Caersws have gotten over their 5-1 mauling at Flint last week after recording a well earned 4-2 win over relegation threatened Ruthin Town in the Huws Gray Alliance.
The Bluebirds had to come from behind twice, first through Mark Griffiths’s equalizer and then through a Graham Evans penalty.
But they finished strongly with Matty Davies scoring his second in as many games and Geraint Lewis making it 4-2 with three minutes to spare.
Can Technogroup Welshpool stage one of the greatest escape acts in football history?
Not many people will be betting against it today after The Lilywhites chalked up their second win in a row to send a message out to the Huws Gray Alliance that they are not dead and buried yet.
Their incredible revival continued at Porthmadog with a 2-0 win with goals from Chris Melia after 15 minutes and a second from Nathan Mapletoft after 62 minutes to throw yet another lifeline.
Guilsfield fought out an eight-goal thriller with familiar foe in a 4-4 draw with Rhos Aelwyd.
Guilsfield were always playing catch-up with Rob Cookson bagging his third in two games to bring the villagers level at 1-1, before Ross Frame and John Harris again brought Guilsfield even after slipping 3-1 behind. Rhos took a 4-3 lead but Frame’s second of the game in the 84th minute rescued a point for the village.
The chasing pack in the Spar Mid Wales League was celebrating after the top two both lost at home!
Leaders Berriew slipped up 2-1 against Tywyn Bryncrug while Llanrhaeadr also went down 2-1 to Llanidloes. Llansantffraid Village capitalised with a 1-0 win at Aberystwyth Uni and Carno won 2-1 at home to Penparcau. Waterloo Rovers enjoyed a welcome 4-3 win at Dolgellau.
In Division Two, there’s no change at the top after Tregaron won 4-2 at Abermule and Montgomery recorded a massive 8-2 win at Four Crosses. Llanfair United slipped to a 4-0 defeat at Rhosgoch while Kerry’s title ambitions took a blow when they went down 3-0 at home to Bont.
