Two people have put their names forward to be co-opted onto town council wards in Newtown.
Newtown Town Council has two vacancies after no nominations were put forward for the North and South wards.
At next week's full town council meeting, councillors will consider co-opting two people who have put themselves forward for the seats. They will not face a public vote.
They are Nicky Tanner and Paul Harris.
In her personal statement to councillors, Nicky Tanner states: "I am applying to be a town councillor as I want to work alongside other councillors to help with the continuous improvements to our town and community to benefit both our residents and visitors to the town.
"Communities across the country are facing hardships and challenges caused by many national and global issueswhich are affecting all aspects of people's lives.
"I feel that Newtwnhas the potential to bick some of these trends and strengthen our local community, and we should try to embrace this and encourage peop[le moving into the area to join with the rest of the town in celebrating and developing our Newtown spirit."
In his statement, Paul Harris, said: "I am thoroughly supportive of Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Place Plan. The Place Plan stands out as it emerges directly from the the community itself. I fully endorse this inclusive approach and believe it is crucial for fostering a town that grows and develops in harmony with the desires of its inhabitants.
"What I find particularly compelling is the community's proactive stance on growth. From what I understand the residents are advocating for changes that enhance Newtown's role as an employment and trading hub, while respecting its unique Mid Wales identity and I agree with this."
Councillors will cosnider co-opting them at their meeting next Monday.
