Just weeks left in wellbeing survey

Residents across Newtown, Welshpool, Llanidloes and other north Powys communities are being urged to have their say on the issues affecting their quality of life and the future of the area.

Powys County Council says there is still time to take part in a countywide survey which will help shape the updated Powys Well-being Assessment.

The assessment will examine current conditions across the county, the factors influencing people's wellbeing and how these could change in the future.

It is a requirement under the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015 and will consider four main areas covering social issues, the economy, the environment, and culture and community.

The Powys Public Services Board has already gathered data and other evidence but wants residents, organisations and community representatives to provide their own experiences of living and working in the county.

For communities in north Powys, the consultation provides an opportunity to highlight local priorities and the issues residents believe should be addressed in the years ahead.

The survey asks people what wellbeing means to them, what affects their day-to-day lives and what they believe should be improved now and in the future.

Cllr Jake Berriman, chair of the Powys Public Services Board, said: “We want to hear directly from people across Powys about what matters most in their day-to-day lives. Your feedback will help us better understand the challenges and opportunities facing our communities, now and in the future.”

Responses will contribute to the final Powys Well-being Assessment, which is due to be published in early 2027. Its findings will then help inform the county's next Well-being Plan.

Paper and Easy Read versions can also be downloaded or collected from Powys libraries. Completed forms can be returned to library staff or emailed to haveyoursay@powys.gov.uk.

The deadline for responses is Wednesday, 30 September.
