Newtown’s Charter Market has faced six weeks of disruption due to high winds, but has still attracted new traders, a report to councillors has revealed.
The update, which has been submitted to Newtown Town Council’s Services Committee, states that the operations team has “been unable to erect gazebos due to adverse wind forecasts” for six weeks this year, affecting normal trading conditions.
Despite this, three new traders have joined the market, including two fresh bread stalls and a bric-a-brac stall.
The report also confirms that a Young Traders event is planned for Tuesday, 28 April, with three traders already expressing interest.
The latest position will be discussed by councillors as part of a wider operations update.
