Residents with an interest in local history and architecture are being invited to attend the next meeting of the Newtown and District Civic Society later this month.
The society will hold its next event on Tuesday, March 10, at 2pm at the Crescent Christian Centre on Milford Road in Newtown.
Guest speaker Peter Francis will give a talk exploring the buildings and architecture of nearby Welshpool, offering an insight into the town’s historic streets and the variety of structures that shape its character.
Organisers say the talk will highlight “the great variety of interesting buildings which we probably don’t appreciate when passing through”, encouraging people to take a closer look at the architectural heritage on their doorstep.
The meeting is free for members of the Newtown and District Civic Society, while non-members can attend for £3.
The society regularly hosts talks and events focused on local history, heritage and the built environment in and around Newtown.
