A Powysland Club lecture in Newtown next week will explore one of the most important turning points in Montgomeryshire’s political history.
The talk, titled “The Montgomeryshire Election of 1880 - When everything changed in the county’s politics!”, will be given by Edward Parry and takes place at Plas Dolerw on Saturday, February 14 at 2pm.
The lecture will look back at the dramatic 1880 election and how it reshaped political life across the county, setting patterns and influences that lasted for decades afterwards. It is expected to be of interest to anyone who enjoys local history and Welsh political heritage.
The event is open to everyone and admission is free.
Doors open shortly before the start, with visitors welcome to attend without booking.
