Newtown's re-elected Mayor Pete Lewington has set out his commitment to making the town a "thriving, welcoming, and innovative place for everyone" as he begins another term in office.
Speaking after his re-election, Cllr Lewington said: "It is an honour to serve as Mayor of Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn for another term. I am committed to continuing our work to make our town a thriving, welcoming, and innovative place for everyone."
He emphasised his collaborative approach to addressing the challenges ahead, stating: "Together with the Deputy Mayor, other town councillors, community youth representatives, our dedicated staff team, and of course all those good people in the community who do good things, I look forward to addressing the challenges ahead and celebrating our community's successes together."
Cllr Lewington has chosen to continue supporting the same charitable causes as his previous term, maintaining his backing for Re-kindle and the Newtown Street Pastors. "My nominated Mayor's charities remain as last year, Re-kindle and the Newtown Street Pastors," he confirmed.
Deputy Mayor Margaret Lewington, who was also re-elected for another term, shared the Mayor's optimism about the town's future. "I am privileged to serve alongside the Mayor in representing our town," she said. "Our community is full of incredible people and potential, and I am dedicated to ensuring we build on our shared achievements."
