Tidy Newtown Week returns next month

09/02/2024 @ 03:08

Newtown could be one of the tidiest towns in the area in March.

The annual Tidy Newtown Week will take place between 19 and 23 March with organisers urging volunteers to help come out and help clear litter.

Areas will be targeted throughout the week, with skips placed in key areas to help clear rubbish and litter.

The week will begin at Vaynor on Tuesday, 19 March. Volunteers will beet at Vaynor Shop to help clear up the area between 10am and 12noon.

This will be followed on Wednesday at Trehafren Hall; Thursday at Maesyrhandir and Treowen, meeting at both local primary schools; and then the town centre, Commercial Street, and Canal Road on the Friday, meeting at the Robert Owen Museum.

On the final day, Saturday, the Town Parks and riverside area will be targeted, with events also taking place, including Kids Easter Eco Activities, Seed Swap, Clothes Swap, and waste and recycling information. This will all take place at Hafan Yr Afon in Back Lane.

The week is being supported by Powys County Council, Newtown Town Council, and Keep Wales Tidy.
