A Caersws honey producer is tripling the scope of its business after winning a contract to supply 650 Tesco stores in the UK.
Hilltop Honey was founded by Managing Director Scott Davies who today announced plans for his products to appear at Tesco stores nationwide from 17th August.
Scott said the new relationship with Britain's largest retailer will triple the scope of operations at Hilltop Honey, which has recently added staff to its facility in Caersws.
One British beekeeper alone who supplies Hilltop Honey has added 200 hives to keep pace with the increased demand.
"We're excited to deliver one hundred percent honest, raw British honey to our customers," said Davies.
"Hilltop Honey is proud to be part of Tesco's initiative to provide locally sourced products to UK consumers."
Tesco Buying Manager for Spreads, Siu Hoang, commented: "Honey is a growing area within Spreads and our customers are increasingly looking for local, British produce.
“We are very pleased to be working with Hilltop Honey, offering our customers fantastic tasting, local honey. In the range, we will have both a raw wildflower honey, perfect for drizzling over waffles or using in marinades and a creamed honey, which is delicious spread on hot toast."
Since starting Hilltop Honey in 2011, Davies has overseen the steady growth of the business.
The honey producer received a boost in September 2014 when he was invited to attend a NATO conference in South Wales as part of a select group of Welsh business entrepreneurs, and to personally present a jar of honey to Prime Minister David Cameron.
Davies regularly promotes Hilltop Honey through various food shows and at venues across the UK including recent events in London and New York.
