Club Champion Graham Walker won the Silver division of the J.T. Hughes (Honda) June medal by firing an excellent 3 under par 67 at the weekend.
He clinched the top spot by a single shot from the runner-up, Alan Jones, whilst Alan Williams finished in third with a 71.
J.R. Davies claimed the Bronze division with a solid level par 70 for a three-shot victory from the runner-up, Michael Lovell, whilst Ruggy Jones finished third on 75.
With that win, Walker now moves to 11 points and closes the gap in the Golfer of the Year competition to the current leader, Connor Jones with 15.
The St. Giles “A Team” that represented the club at the recent G.U.W. Team event held at Builth Wells finished joint winners with 107 points. The team consisting of John Evans, Mark Philips, Hugh Jones and junior Connor Jones will now head to the Celtic Manor Resort to take part in the national finals in August.
The parent and sibling competition which was held on Father’s Day was won by the father and son combination of Danny and Connor Owen who carded a fantastic 63 to win the competition from the runners-up, Brian “Sput” Jones and Alan Jones.
The Seniors Ray Slade Trophy was won by Alan Forward who carded an excellent 38 points to land the silverware. A countback was required to determine second which eventually went to Phil Trehearn at the expense of Richard Davies after both veterans had carded 36 points.
The Ladies Vice-Captain, Angela Jarman, won the prestigious Windsor Cup with a total of 31 points for a one point victory. Nicky McMullan claimed second at the expense of Kay Humphreys in a card playoff after both ladies returned 30 points.
This Saturday, club captain Martin Stephens hosts his Captain’s Day. Tee-off times have been allocated throughout the day with putting and chipping competitions, open to all, to run in the afternoon. The presentation is due to take place at 8pm.
