Caersws Football Club is to introduce 250 new seats and add turnstiles as part of plans to develop the club's Recreation Ground site, improving access and safety.
It will be the largest development at the club in 21 years.
The club has landed a windfall from the Football Association of Wales's Ground Improvements Scheme, as reported by MyNewtown last week. Clubs throughout Montgomeryshire have landed over £113,000 towards improvements, including Four Crosses, Llansantffaid Village, Abermule and Llanfair United.
Peter Harding, Chairman of Caersws Football Club, said: "With the fantastic grant of £28,400 we have now received from the Welsh Football Trust’s Ground Improvement scheme we can hopefully get the project in motion and ensure that the club and the Ground maintains its position as one of Mid Wales’ best venues for years to come.
“The Club have worked hard to get the club sustainable over recent years and we are now getting into a position of stability. The fruit of all this hard work means we can now hopefully start to re-invest in the facilities as well as the youth and junior set ups and improve the clubs ties with the community whilst remaining competitive on the pitch.”
The project, the club’s largest at the ground for 21 years, has been planned for some time and has had a lengthy development process involving the Caersws Recreation Association and the Environment Agency both of whom have been extremely supportive. The project, which will be rolled out in three phases, will hopefully start with phase one in the summer subject to planning approval, in time for the new season in August.
