A YouTube video highlighting shop closures and Newtown as a ghost town is all set to go viral as its spreads across Facebook.
The video, posted on YouTube by a resident using the name CutPryce, has started to appear on Facebook posts today after being published on the video sharing site yesterday.
With images of Newtown past and present, including shops boarded up or close, and set to The Specials track 'Ghost Town', it's already nearing 100 hits and set to rise.
Comments have included: "Gutted, I was brought up in Newtown and it was the greatest town in Wales at one time," to "Very cleever and sadly very true."
But with traders and busines people attempting to push the town centre to local residents as their main shopping venue, could te video give Newtown a bad name? The recently re-launched Newtown Chamber of Trade is currently attempting to revitalise the town centre trade, but with shop closures, including Ian Snow, Laura Ashley, Bon Marche and others, it's currently an uphill battle.
