Secrets of the 'mound' to be revealed

03/04/2024 @ 11:57

More archaeological work is expected to take place on the Newtown Mound, town councillors have been told.

An archaeological survey was undertaken on the mound last year involving the Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust and volunteers from the town.

The dig unearthed artefacts and other items that were displayed at an event held in Newtown last month to show what work had been undertaken to date.

The work had been commissioned by Newtown Town Council and its Economy and Environment Committee was told last night that more surveys will be undertaken and information provided on what future work will be needed.

Councillors were told more details would be available next month.

Cllr Richard Edwards, Chair of the committee, said: "Lots of unique stuff has been found in Newtown."
