Ceilidh will kick off Newtown Food Festival weekend

Newtown Food Festival will kick off its weekend with a Ceilidh, it has been announced.

The festival takes place on 2 and 3 September in the Town Hall Grounds. Kicking off the weekend it will host a Ceilidh on the Friday (1 Sept) evening.

The Ceilidh will take place at Hafan yr Afon in Back Lane, starting at 6.30pm.

"The main attraction of the Ceilidh is the electrifying performance by the renowned local band, Ffonic, who will take centre stage and set the tone for an unforgettable night," said a statement from Newtown Town Council, organisers of the food festival.

"Their fusion of traditional and contemporary music is sure to get everyone's feet tapping and bodies moving.
 
"Adding to the excitement is the presence of the talented caller, Claire Weston, who will guide the attendees through the Ceilidh dances. Whether you are a seasoned dancer or a complete beginner, Claire's expertise ensures that everyone can participate and have a fantastic time."

Admisison will be £6 per person in advance or £7 on the evening.

"Families are especially welcome, with accompanied children under 16 enjoying free entry. Caffi Hafan, will be serving delicious refreshments throughout the evening, and a well-stocked bar will also be available for those looking to quench their thirst."
