Diversity and difference was valued and celebrated at a workshop held in Newtown over the weekend.

On Saturday, local art group Celf-Able held a workshop on screen-printing with Caroline and Alwyn from The Hive Welshpool.
"The workshop was part of our ‘Birds Of A Feather’ project, about how we all share a common humanity, no matter what the differences are between us, and how diversity and difference should be valued and celebrated. At the end of the project we will hold an exhibition to show all the work produced, and we will also share the work online," said Amanda Wells of Celf-Able.
The project is funded by National Lottery Community Fund Awards for All. The workshops will take place on Saturdays at the Focus Enterprise Hub, third floor, Pryce Jones building, Newtown, from 11am to 3pm.
The next workshop is on March 25th where participants will be making mini bird books with artist Amy Sterly.
"Other art techniques we will be trying are block printing, weaving, small willow owl sculptures, PowerTex resin, felt bird vessels, cyanotype on fabric, fabric spray stencils, and more. We will also be working on a monthly bird-themed challenge set by various members. A full list of dates and workshops is available on request."
The workshops are free and open to all, but places are limited so booking is required please, email admin@celf-able.org or telephone 07972 932543. Materials and refreshments are provided.
