Created on 30/07/2022 @ 10:53
Events and activities for the family are being organised at the Newtown Textile Museum.

The museum on Commercial Street is offering a range of free workshops and demonstrations, including on Saturday, 6th August Iron Age Spinning and Weaving.

"Come and see what our ancestors made their fabric from between 10am to 4pm," said a museum spokesperson.
"Free tapestry workshops are held on Tuesdays during August again from 12 noon to 4pm.  These are available on 3rd, 17th and 31st with a specialist paid for workshop on 10th August.  Full details are available on the museum website."
The museum has recently been welcoming children from Penygloddfa School who have been learning about life in Newtown in the 1800s.

"Families also enjoy an insight to a life without TVs, modern appliances, and electricity.  Come and find out if you could have managed then and about the children who had to work on the looms rather than go to school. The museum is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays Friday and Saturdays from 12 noon to 4pm," added the spokesperson.
