Residents in Newtown have been commenting on the state of grass verges along walkways in the town as well as full rubbish bins in the car parks.
Verges along the river walkway, canal and other parts of the town have been left to grow in many cases, but some residents say it is an eyesore and also a nuisance to some walkers.
In posts on social media, several have urged Montgomeryshire MS, Russell George, and Cllr Joy Jones to investigate.
It is understood many verges and grass areas are being left to grow to attract wildlife.
In a post on one of the town's social media pages, one resident, Phil Paul, said: "Can you comment if it’s pcc responsibility to keep this area ie the river path cut instead of an overgrown mess even the fruit trees planted are overgrown with hog weed.
"We just got back from 2 weeks in South Wales Llanelli and the millennium coastal park which in fairness to Carmarthen council was immaculate every day they had teams emptying the rubbish bins along a 9 mile stretch to Kidwelly yet PCC struggle to empty the bins in the post office car park let alone cut the grass."
In response, Cllr Jones said: "The river path isn't Powys Councils responsibility. I think I'm right that this is Natural Resources Wales .. the bins in the car park are PCC and I continual ask that these are emptied."
"Answer to my email from PCC regarding the emptying of bins is: at weekend s they are emptied both Saturday and Sunday morning but they do not go back in afternoon at weekends."
