Silver Kite Award for Jennifer

A Newtown woman has been awarded a top award from Powys County Council for her work in the community.
Jennifer Coppell, a community champion at Morrison supermarket in Newtown, helped arrange food and support for people in the community throughout the covid-19 pandemic.
She has been awarded the Silver Kite Award by the chairman of the county council.
The Silver Kite Award is only given in exceptional circumstances.
"Jennifer Coppell was presented with the award by Cllr Gwynfor Thomas for outstanding services to the community by ensuring food was available for food banks, charities, churches and other organisations, so that they may distribute to those in need," said a council spokesperson.
"Many competitions were also arranged by Ms Coppell to help keep up the spirits of those in the community during the dark months of lockdown and proceeds were donated to charity."
