Can you make a difference to a foster family?

08/04/2021 @ 05:12

Local people are being urged to consider making a big difference to a young person’s life, by providing support to those who foster children with additional medical needs.

There is real a need for people to provide short breaks or daytime support for foster carers across the county.

There are local foster families who look after children under the age of three with complex medical needs and physical disabilities, so the county council is seeking support for these families to have some time during the day to do the shopping, and for the children to occasionally be able to have an overnight short break.

Cllr Rachel Powell, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services adds: “It’s a difficult time for us all, but particularly for families who have children needing specific support and care, with complex needs and disabilities. So, if you have a caring heart and want to step up to do something incredible for children and families during this pandemic then please get in touch.”

If you have personal or professional experience of caring for people with disabilities or additional medical needs, and a wish to support local children and their families, the county council would really like to hear from you.

24/7 support is provided as well as a generous financial allowance and access to a range of training.
