'Newtown Mound' report due this week

The results of an archaeological investigation into the 'Newtown Mound' is expected to be revealed on Tuesday.

Archaeological work was undertaken at the mound last year. The mound sits within a now wooded area off Park Street and within the Town Hall grounds.

Newtown Town Council's Economy and Environment Committee will receive an update on the investigation at their meeting on Tuesday.

Councillors will also be asked to consider a quote to undertake a dig at the mound which could uncover more results about the town's past.
