Award for Churchstoke student

Hours of learning have been rewarded for Newtown College student Emma Morgan-Page who was announced as runner up in the Lantra Cymru Wales' Land-based Young Learner of the Year Awards. 

Emma who is on the Level 3 Agriculture Course at Newtown College is currently in her second year having achieved a Distinction in her first year.

The awards which this year were announced virtually due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic recognised the initiative, skills and enthusiasm of individuals pursuing a career within the environmental and land-based process. 

Emma, 17 years old from Churchstoke was put forward for the award by lecturer and Land-Based Estates Manager & Deputy Head of School for Catering, Hospitality and Agriculture, Martin Watkin who said:

“Emma has shown outstanding initiative and enthusiasm. Her work is always of an extremely high standard and we are delighted she has been recognised in the Lantra Awards this year.”

The Award winners and runners up are enlisted into the new Lantra Cymru Wales Ambassadors programme to champion skills and development within the food and drink supply chain in Wales. A combination of resources and informal awareness raising is to be made available to all ambassadors during the year.
