More than £2.5m being invested in Newtown

Newtown is seeing significant investment in construction projects despite the coronavirus situation, the town's Mayor has said.

Cllr David Selby told town councillor at their full meting last night (Monday) that despite the gloom of the situation, more than £2.5 million was being investment in projects.

He was referring news that construction on the Riverside Hub was underway, along with the development of flats at the former Robert Owen House site.

"We can be very positive about our town. There are three to four projects taking place. We should celebrate that," he said.

He added that plans were also in hand to improve Sarah Brisco House, the home of the town council at The Cross in Broad Street.
