Residents at care homes in Newtown will have received their Covid-19 vaccine by the end of next week.
Yesterday, Powys Teaching Health Board began administering the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine to residents at Crossfield House in Rhayader the first vaccine in a care home in Wales.
It comes as five new coronavirus cases were reported in Newtown North in the 24 hours up to midday yesterday, taking the total to 113 since 11 March 2020.
In Newtown South the total is 70. Abermule, Churchstoke & Kerry is up one to 56 in total since 11 March, 2020.
The health board said further vaccines would be taking place in the county today and tomorrow, before rolling out to all care homes in the area by the end of next week.
A total of 250 residents in the county will receive the vaccine, subject to their eligibility.
