Crematorium plans welcomed

10/11/2020 @ 07:53

Plans for a crematorium and green burial field near Caersws have been welcomed by local residents as it emerged a Powys county councillor is one of the directors behind the plans.

MyNewtown reported yesterday about plans by Powys Crematorium Ltd to build a crematorium on land at Ael y Bryn, near the village.

It would mean local families would no longer have to travel miles to Shrewsbury or Aberystwyth for a cremation.

It has emerged that one of the directors of the London-registered company is Powys county councillor, Gareth Pugh, from Abermule. It is not know what his involvement is in the company, although he will have to declare an interest at any planning stage.

A pre-planning consultation has begun to allow local people, adjoining landowners and relevant organisations to comment before a planning application is submitted.

Most people commenting on social media have welcomed the news.

People can see the plans by visiting https://www.powyscrematorium.com

To have your say on the proposals email enquiries@alansoutherbyplanning.co.uk or write to the applicant care of Cnitho Mill, Llanfaredd, Powys, LD2 3UE.
