Murder suspect’s brother on assault charge

The brother of murder suspect Blaine Kirkham was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning for assaulting his girlfriend.

Jamie Paul Kirkham was arrested after police were called to an address in Lon Rhosod, Newtown, and discovered he had assaulted Michelle Swan. He appeared before magistrates on Tuesday morning and was remanded in custody to appear before Mold Crown Court in August.

The 31 year-old also admitted damaging a police car and using threatening behaviour towards two of the officers sent to investigate the incident.

Kirkham also admitted damaging property, believed to be walls, belonging to Powys County Council.

Younger brother Blaine, 20, is currently in custody charged with the murder of 19 year-old Lewis Clarke of Newtown at the weekend.
