Don't leave your windows open if out

Residents in Newtown are being urged to remain vigilant following a number of recent crimes.

With the warmer weather many households are leaving windows open and on Friday a burglar attempted to gain entry to one in Park Street before being disturbed.

It comes following a number of other thefts from farms and other premises in rural parts of the area, including Llanidloes, where machinery and quad bikes have been stolen.

Police have urged residents to not leave windows open or items of value in gardens or yards where they can be accessed easily.
