White Ribbon Day marked with a walk in Newtown

White Ribbon Day has been marked in Newtown by Powys County Council staff and councillors.

The events, which took place at Newtown, Brecon, Llandrindod Wells and at the Winter Fair at Llanelwedd, were organised to highlight the impact of domestic abuse and dozens of people took part.

They were organised in partnership with Calan DVS, Montgomeryshire Family Crisis Centre, Welsh Women’s Aid with the support of Dyfed Powys Police.

Ali Bulman is Corporate Director (Children and Families) with the council and took part in the Llanelwedd event. She commented: “We organised these events to encourage people to show their support for victims of domestic abuse and to highlight this very important issue along with people around the country .”

“We know that the victims of domestic abuse come from all walks of life – all ages, social classes, gender and sexuality – so we’d urge anyone who is experiencing this, to not suffer in silence. Please contact ourselves or one of our partners; we can help,” said Ali.
