Body of man found in River Severn

The body of a man has been discovered in the River Severn during the search for a missing man.

Police have confirmed to MyNewtown that a body was found in the river near Llanidloes during the search for Malcolm Brookes who was reported missing on Wednesday.

“Formal identification has not yet taken place, however next of kin is aware of the development,” said a police spokesperson.

“Officers are now appealing for any information which could help them piece together the events leading up to his death. Malcolm was last seen walking in Llanidloes town centre on Monday, August 19, and his movements since then are not known.”
