Permission refused for "overspill" car park at Ladywell Centre

Plans for a new overspill car park next to the Ladywell Shopping Centre in Newtown have been refused by a Powys County Council planning officer.

Plans had been submitted for "construction of an overspill car park to Ladywell Shopping Centre to include new access, landscaping and boundary treatment. Formation of a new and improvement to existing boundary wall on Butterfly Lane to rear."

But the head of planning, under delegated authority, has refused the plans.

The owners, EvaBuild, are currently redeveloping the site as part of a significant investment in the town that will include a local company, Quartix, moving into what was the former Co-Op part of the centre.

The decision is included in a report of delegated decisions made by the officer that will go to county councillors on the planning committee next Thursday.
