Historic town hall to re-open with Open Mic Night

25/06/2019 @ 01:39

An open mic night will mark the re-opening of the renovated Montgomery Town Hall on Saturday.

The historic building has undergone renovations by Montgomery Town Council and the Montgomery Buildings Preservation Trust.

To mark the occasion the Montgomery Open Mic Night will take place at 8pm.

"As the newly refurbished Montgomery Town Hall re-opens, entertainment will be provided from 8pm to midnight on 29 June by an Open Mic Night where members of the public will be encouraged to perform from a couple of numbers up to a 20 to 30-minute set," said a statement.

Organiser Mike Mills said, "It's an opportunity for all those budding rock stars, frustrated poets and would-be entertainers to get on the stage and enjoy their moment in the spotlight.

"We want to demonstrate the talent we have locally and showcase to everyone what a great venue the Town Hall is for any social event."

A bar will be available, together with light refreshments. The open mic night is free to enter.

Many local people have already stepped up with a promise to perform, but there will be space on the night and anyone who would like to perform should either come along on the night or contact Mike Mills on mike.mills@montgomery-wales.co.uk or 01686 668442.

The hall will be open from 7pm for the public to enjoy a cup of tea and see the changes to the building for themselves. Councillors and Trust members will be on hand to show people the improvements, and answer questions about the refurbishment and also about the future use of the Town Hall.
