Trehafren Hill blaze tackled before threatening nearby properties

Firefighters have had a tough 24 hours tackling fires in the area, including one close to homes in Newtown.

A blaze broke out on Trehafren Hill last night which required crews from the area to prevent the blaze spreading to nearby homes.

The fire was captured by local photographer Paul Williams of H18-PDW Photography.

Nobody was injured in the blaze, but it stretched crews who were already tackling another blaze on a hill near Rhayader.

Residents are being urged to be vigilant in the area as the tinder dry conditions create concerns about more fires in the local countryside.
