Welshpool murder suspect set for Caernarfon Crown Court hearing

The man accused of murdering a 49-year-old in Welshpool on Sunday morning will reappear before a judge at Caernarfon Crown Court tomorrow (Thursday).

Martin Slezak, of Stanley Street, Welshpool, was charged following the tragic death of Walsall man, Young John Mongan, who was found with serious head injuries on Church Street at 1.16am. Sadly he passed away at the scene despite the efforts to save him by ermergency services.

He appeared before Wrexham Magistrates Court yesterday, but it was sent to Crown Court due to the seriousness of the charge.

He is due to appear at Caernarfon Crown Court for a preliminary hearing tomorrow.

There has been an outpouring of tributes for Mr Mongan since Sunday’s tragedy, with his family and friends making a touching visit to the scene on Monday evening.
