Work has begun on a major Newtown roadside development that will include a petrol station, hotel, pub and drive-through restaurant.
Construction activity has started on land beside the David Davies roundabout on the town bypass, with aerial photographs showing earthworks, machinery and temporary site facilities now in place. The photos were taken by Newtown photographer Paul Williams - H18-PDW Photography.
The development, near Glandulas Caravan Park, has been the subject of planning discussions for several years and is expected to be built in phases.
The first stage of the scheme, including a petrol station and drive-through element, previously secured planning approval. Separate approval was later granted for a hotel and pub development.
Plans for the hotel include a three-storey building with 34 rooms and electric vehicle charging spaces.
The site has attracted significant local interest since plans first emerged, with supporters pointing to investment and jobs, while others raised concerns about the impact on existing town centre businesses.
