A Newtown teenager who has campaigned on mental health and youth safety issues across Wales has been crowned the first ever Miss Teen Wales.
Newtown teenager Scarlett Davies, 16, was awarded the inaugural title following the Miss Teen Wales 2026 final at Cwmaman Arts Centre in Aberdare.
Scarlett founded Stronger Than Silence, a platform supporting teenagers living with PTSD, and has worked with mental health charity Mind on a global awareness video.
She has also raised more than £4,000 for charity and completed more than 200 public appearances supporting young people and community causes.
Alongside her advocacy work, Scarlett has performed in musical theatre productions across the area since the age of eight and is a member of Wales’s Seren programme for academically gifted students.
Earlier this year, she also spoke at the Senedd’s Inspire Her event, where she addressed concerns around knife crime in schools and wider issues linked to youth and women’s safety.
The Miss Teen Wales programme included fundraising, workshops and volunteering activities focused on confidence, wellbeing and community support.
Finalists collectively raised £7,000 for A-Sisterhood and took part in workshops with Women’s Aid on healthy relationships. Contestants also prepared buddy bags for girls living in refuges and attended training and mentoring events ahead of the final.
The final itself included interviews, stage rounds, a charity ball and empowerment activities before judges selected Scarlett as the first titleholder.
Speaking after the event, Scarlett said: “Every young person deserves to be seen, heard, and protected.”
She will now spend the next year representing Miss Teen Wales at events across the country while continuing to raise money for A-Sisterhood.
