Newtown man arrested on suspicion of assault

A Newtown man has been arrested following a serious assault in Llandrindod Wells that left an elderly victim requiring hospital treatment.

Dyfed-Powys Police is appealing for witnesses after the incident at Rock Park at around 6.15pm on Wednesday, 1 April.

An 80-year-old man sustained a facial injury during the assault and was taken to hospital for treatment.

A 21-year-old man from Newtown has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent. He has since been released on police bail while enquiries continue.

Officers are asking anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have information about the incident, to come forward.
