Rail disruption to continue today

Newtown residents hoping to reach Shrewsbury today are facing delays after the line was closed temporarily.

Transport for Wales said a fault with points caused the closure of the line between Welshpool and Shrewsbury on Friday afternoon.

Services have resumed today, but a statement from the rail company said: "Following signalling issues between Welshpool and Shrewsbury, services are now able to run. Please continue to travel as planned but expect severe delays and disruption."

The company said services would be disrupted along the Cambrian Railway until this evening.
