Woman died in road accident, police confirm

Police have confirmed a woman died in an accident on the Newtown bypass on Tuesday which closed the road for nearly 12 hours.

Three vehicles were involved in the accident at around 1.35pm which police said they are now investigating.

Emergency services attended the scene in which a lorry and two cars were involved between the Dolfor and Kerry roundabouts.

A statement from the force said: “Dyfed-Powys Police is investigating a three-vehicle road traffic collision which occurred at about 1.35pm, Tuesday April 23.

“A lorry and two cars were involved in the collision on the A483, Newtown bypass, between Dolfor roundabout and Kerry Road roundabout.

“Sadly, the female driver of one of the cars died at the scene.

“Next of kin has been advised and our thoughts remain with them at this sad time.

“The road was closed and reopened just after midnight.”

A 30mph limit remains in place on part of the road due to damage caused by the accident.
