One of Newtown's oldest car dealership sites to close

One of Newtown’s longest running car dealership sites is to close.

Greenhous in Poole Road, formerly WR Davies Motors, will close on 1 November.

The company said despite significant investment at the site the business was making significant losses.

The Ford dealership has been on the site for several decades and was owned by the same family until they sold it to Greenhous.

A company spokesperson said: “It is with deep regret that we have announced that Greenhous Ford Newtown, will close on Friday 1st November 2019, 5.00pm
 
“This is a business decision as, despite significant investment by Greenhous in the site at Newtown, including refurbishment of the existing premises and the new van sales centre, the site has continued to run at a significant loss. 
  
“We are currently in consultations with affected employees and every effort will be made to secure alternative roles elsewhere in the business.”
 
He added: “However, for our Ford customers we have arranged with Furrows to accept warranty and servicing requests going forward.  We wish to thank  all of our customers at Greenhous Ford who have been so important to us and hope that any future dealings with Furrows will be positive.
 
Greenhous are still operating in Shrewsbury for the purchase of a used car and can offer servicing /repairs and MOT’s on all makes of vehicles.
