Newtown: Get ready to party

09/12/2010 @ 04:43

Live music will warm the cockles of Newtown revelers this weekend with a band closely tied to the X-factor performing as well as second venue putting on separate live entertainment.
Newtown girl Janette Williams (right in glasses) is returning to the town from London with her band Djitsu to perform a one-night only show at the Monty Club, while Misty Blue Trio will be on stage at the Buck Inn earlier on the same night.
It will be the first time that Janette has performed in front of familiar faces in her home town and she admits that, while it will be daunting, she is looking forward to it.
“I was a local girl until about four years ago when I moved to London to pursue my music career as a drummer,” she said. “I formed the band Djitsu from friends and amazing musicians who wanted a new and exciting project and we were lucky enough to snag Jordan from FYD (X factor band) before he was famous.
“Unfortunately Jordan will not be singing with us on Saturday as he is doing the X-factor live final but the band are well worth watching as the female vocalist Lisa will knock the socks off anyone on x-factor at the moment!”
Janette says Djitsu is a mix of breakbeat and funk with a bit of hip hop thrown in and added: “I doubt that anyone will have seen a band as tight and as funky as this live in Newtown before and as it’s a one off event it probably won't happen again so don’t miss out!”
The doors open at 11pm with a £3 entry. It follows the live music at the Buck Inn which starts at 9pm.
